Female Hair Loss(Part 2)

Before getting into the topic of stopping hair loss in women, let's first consider one of the problems that face women and men alike, the number of hairs we lose every day, or hair shedding.

Hair Shedding

Before getting into the topic of stopping hair loss in women, let's first consider one of the problems that face women and men alike, the number of hairs we lose every day, or hair shedding.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, it is normal to lose about 50 to 100 hairs per day. The problem would be if we lose an amount larger than that.

There are different reasons why you have hair shedding. Among these are:

            ·      Telogen effluvium

            ·        Giving birth

            ·        Having a surgery

            ·        Lack of vitamins

            ·        Stress

            ·        Loss of 20 pounds or more in a short span of time

            ·        Not having the proper protein and moisture balance

            ·        High fever

            ·        Discontinuation of birth controlling pills

Well, keeping that information on hair shedding in mind, let's move on to rule number 2 for treating female hair loss. Which one?

Stop Female Hair Loss

As a woman, the second logical rule you have to follow is to stop female hair loss. Don't you think? But, how can you do that?

If you want to reduce, prevent or stop female hair loss, consider the 15 steps listed below:

            ·        Massage scalp with natural and essential oils

            ·        Wash your hair regularly with a mild shampoo

            ·        Dry your hair gently if you use a towel

            ·        Avoid blow drying or heating your hair for a long time

            ·        Do not brush your hair when it is wet, because at that time your hair is more fragile

            ·        Untangle your hair with your fingers, instead of the hairbrush

            ·        Don't use braids, ponytails, or other hairstyles that cause an unnecessary pull on your hair

            ·        Drink lots of water. An 8-ounce glass of water for every 15 pounds of your total weight

            ·        Take vitamins, like vitamin C

            ·        Avoid smoking at all costs

            ·        Decrease or totally eliminate drinking alcohol

            ·        Exercise regularly

            ·        Hear soft music to de-stress the soul

            ·        Meditate on positive things

            ·        Keep hair sweat-free in hot weather

Now, you already have fulfilled half the rules to master your hair loss. What's next?

Female Hair Regrowth

The third one is to regrow your hair. I know it is the most difficult part in your effort to master your female hair loss. But don't lose hope.

There are alternatives for hair loss in women, ranging from medications to hair restoration and products for hair regrowth, that reduce hair loss. Among these are natural products, which are very effective.

Not all hair loss products for women are the same. Some, like wigs and concealers, exist only to cover up the signs of loss. And there are those, who do not have a proper medical base to meet your expectations for treating hair loss.

Since the loss of hair involves an emotional side of many women, much time and money is spent looking for a female hair loss solution in the form of medications, transplants, and cover-ups.

I have covered three of the four rules for mastering hair loss in women. The last one was tough. There is only one left, but if you master it, you can make your hair loss almost unnoticeable.

Female Hair Thinning

Female hair thinning is the fourth major problem of female hair loss. In the case of some women, since their crown of glory is their hair, just having some loss is cause for concern. It's no secret that her goal has always been a full head of hair.

A large number of female hair thinning, comes from the most common type of female hair loss, a genetic condition called androgenetic alopecia. This is due to hormonal changes and causes the hair follicles to gradually shrink over time.

The symptoms of androgenic alopecia are hair that looks more like exclamation marks, increased hair on the rest of the body, pitted nails, increased body weight, irregular menstruation, acne. There is also a great risk of developing PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome.

Smoking is another cause of thinning hair. Beautiful hair doesn't match with smoking, especially in women. Cigarettes have 599 ingredients, 69 of them are highly poisonous, and could trigger cancer.

Without doubt, that amount of toxins prevent blood circulation up to your hair follicles, causing thinning hair. If you want to learn more about this, check out the article Smoking and Hair Loss.

Another reason for a thin hair is a lack of protein in your diet, as well as other illnesses such as diabetes, thyroid disorders, Lupus, and ringworm, a skin disease caused by different kinds of fungi.

There are certain medications that tend to thin out your hair. Chemo and stress are certainly among the factors involved.

So, what to do if you suffer from thinning hair? Here is a list of what you can do:

            ·       Eat protein foods like meat, poultry, pork, seafood, eggs, milk, cheese, yogurt, tofu, beans, lentils, seeds, nuts, and fish like salmon which also contain omega 3 fatty acids

            ·       Take vitamins like vitamin C and biotin

            ·       Drink a lot of water

            ·       Limit your alcohol intake

            ·       Take hair growth supplements but ask your doctor first

            ·       Use a shampoo that doesn't contain alcohol or sulfates, but don't overuse it

            ·       Let your hair dry on its own or use a soft towel

            ·       Limit the use of blowers and hot tools for styling hair

            ·       Use volumizing products, like hair mousse or conditioner

            ·       Exercise regularly to promote blood circulation to the scalp

            ·       Meditate on nice things

            ·       Hear soft music and relax
